Joe Kerwin, born February 19, 1932, in Oak Park, Illinois, is a distinguished American astronaut celebrated for his pivotal role in advancing space exploration. Selected by NASA in 1965, Kerwin made history as part of Apollo 7, testing crucial spacecraft systems in Earth orbit.
